Letter: Diggs for School Board

This letter is written in support of Mary Kathryn Diggs who is running for a seat on the Mathews County School Board.
Anyone who aspires to be a member of the School Board of Mathews should be a strong supporter of the mission of public schools to educate every child who attends, regardless of race or religion, and help each of them reach their potential. I first met Mary Kathryn Diggs in 1975, when she was a physical education teacher at T.C. Walker Middle School in Gloucester, where I was an assistant principal. She was an excellent teacher.
She is a Mathews native, an intelligent, caring person who wants the best for all of the students in Mathews. Her entire teaching career has been in the public schools. She retired in 2015 for several years, but because of the need in Mathews and Gloucester, she returned to the classroom to do substitute teaching and is still working.
