This past Saturday, March 12th, marked a special day in Gloucester as hundreds of community members participated in the 2011 Clean Gloucester Day event. Over 40 groups pre-registered for the event and joined countless others in conducting roadside, park and neighborhood clean-ups throughout the county of Gloucester. While final totals are being reported and tabulated, it is anticipated that hundreds of bags and tons of trash were removed just in this one day. All who participated are thanked for their efforts to help keep Gloucester clean and green!
Special thanks go to the members of the Gloucester Clean Community Committee and staff from the Virginia Department of Transportation. Without the initiation, planning, coordination and many long hours of hands-on work by Clean Community Committee members, this event would not have taken place. In addition, VDOT provided cases of orange trash bags and trash bag pick-up on the state roads.
