I am a 70-year Gloucester resident who is truly delighted to learn of Fred Brewer’s desire to serve on the Gloucester County School Board. Fred and his family moved to Gloucester from Hampton where he served on the Hampton City School Board for 12 years (2000-2012), five of these as chairman. My wife Margaret and I have known Fred for over 35 years and we cannot recall a more qualified candidate.
Fred was Hampton’s school board chairman from 2007-2012. Highlights during this period include the planning and construction of two new pre-K-8 schools, and participation in the search and hiring process of three superintendents of schools. He was engaged with staff and community stakeholders in the review, revision, deletion and adoption of numerous school board policies. Fred was also involved in the review and approval of HCSB budgets for fiscal years 2001-2012. He participated in student disciplinary hearings and other closed sessions pertaining to personal matters...
