Editor, Gazette-Journal:
The Gloucester County School Board is faced with another effort to replace one of its own, which is no easy task. It was a true loss with the resignation of Mrs. McDonough who served with integrity and was as a wealth of knowledge. I wish her and her family well. The fortunate thing is this county has a candidate that is more than qualified, experienced, and involved in GCPS and has a stake in the success of GCPS. We have seen what happens when these factors are not considered.
I endorse Mr. Fred Brewer for the interim seat on the school board. Mr. Brewer will bring professional board experience (12 years on Hampton’s school board) including leadership (several years as chair and vice chair of the same board) and school construction background while he was on the Hampton board. He has family in GCPS and is an active member of the Gloucester Educational Foundation that supports all that promotes positive feedback within GCPS.
