Letter: Bareford for Commonwealth’s Attorney

On Aug. 24, an editorial by Phillips Ferguson, a lawyer from Suffolk, stated that Marie Walls was endorsed by her current employer, the Gloucester prosecutor, John Dusewicz. That statement was surprising. Mr. Dusewicz has confirmed that he does not and has never endorsed Ms. Walls as the Mathews Commonwealth Attorney. I checked the following week expecting to see a retraction, and none came.
I know lawyers prep witnesses for many reasons to avoid surprises. A concern is when the person gives false testimony. It is known that the testimony is not the truth; it was published and not corrected. Conrad Bareford once prepped me to give a deposition. Conrad emphasized, above all else, for me to tell the truth. Conrad has not always told me what I wanted to hear but has always told the truth to me and everyone I know.
