Letter: An attack, not a ‘tragedy’

Editor, Gazette-Journal:
September 11th, 2001 was not a “tragedy” as headlined in last week’s Gazette-Journal. It was an attack … bravely responded to by police, firefighters, other first responders and many of the building’s occupants.
To suggest that it was other than an attack is an insult to all those who died in the aftermath. I really don’t care about the context of the article, people remember headlines (unfortunately) more than substance and your newspaper staff should and probably does know that.
What journalistic sense went into the decision for that headline? The answer is either none or an intentional effort to rewrite history. I would prefer the former but suspect it was the latter.
