Editor, Gazette-Journal:
On Monday evening, Feb. 7, members of the Piankatank Community League hosted a covered-dish dinner for approximately 65 Gloucester Fire and Rescue volunteers. It is our way of giving back to the dedicated men and women who look out for our safety in our homes and on the road every day all year. Although the league serves as host, the dinner would not be successful without the outpouring of help in the way of food donations from residents in the local area.
Our membership is small in number, but we always have a dedicated cadre of members who can be counted on to help set up, serve food, and do cleanup chores. I am always amazed how well everyone pulls together to make the evening a huge success. I want to shout out a big "Thank You" to everyone who helped make the dinner an enjoyable night for the fire and rescue volunteers.
