The attack by the Japanese on Pearl Harbor in 1941 took about 90 minutes and proved pivotal in the history of the United States. The televised debate last Thursday also took 90 minutes and may prove to be just as pivotal.
It was a disaster for President Biden and many have suggested that he drop out of the race. That is unlikely to happen. It was bad, but it failed to show that he did not have the judgment necessary to do the job. It did reveal that he is an old man with a poor memory who stammers.
On the other hand, Donald Trump proved that he is a lying, ignorant, egotistical bully not worthy of the presidency. Should he be successful in his bid to return to the White House, our country will never be the same and we will find ourselves mired in an autocracy.
His penchant for vengeance, along with the forced round-up of millions of immigrants, will create chaos and likely institute a Reign of Terror similar to that following the French Revolution.
