Leonard “Scott” Downs, 36, of Mathews, Va., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 at Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va. 

 

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leonard A. Downs Sr. and Horace Phillips.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Leonard and Debi Downs of Diggs, Va.; two sons, Hayden Downs of Moon, Va. and Tristan Downs of Gwynn, Va.; grandmothers, Joyce Downs of Moon, and Elizabeth Phillips of Cobbs Creek, Va.; a special friend, Michele Smith of White Stone, Va.; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss him greatly.

 

The family received friends from 7-9 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2013 in the funeral home chapel, with burial at H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Va.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for his boys to be made in Scott’s memory to the Leonard Scott Downs Donation Fund, P.O. Box 1078, Mathews, Va. 23109.
