Leigh Carter Budwell, D.D.S., 90, of Cobbs Creek and Richmond, died Jan. 8, 2015.

Leigh graduated from Virginia Tech where he was on the football and track teams. He graduated from MCV and practiced dentistry in Richmond.  

His dearest love, besides his patients, friends and family, was the Chesapeake Bay. As a child, he summered on Mobjack Bay and as an adult spent his free time in Deltaville. Upon retirement, he settled in Cobbs Creek. Rockfish, oysters and blue crab dinners shared with the dear friends he made, were his idea of paradise.

He was a member of the Mathews Yacht Club and attended Kingston Parish.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Jane Cavan Budwell; three children; four grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

His memorial service was Monday, Jan. 12 in Richmond.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kingston Parish.
