Lavenia Hudgins Forrest of Richmond, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015.
She was born in Bavon, Va., the daughter of Enoch and Renell Hudgins. She attended Mary Washington College.
Lavenia is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dale Forrest. Their daughter Judy Newlin and husband Morris have Billy Newlin with wife Jennifer, Matt Newlin, and Laura Newlin Witter with husband Ryder. Their daughter Cheryl Land has Mitch Land with wife Morgan, Harrison Land, and daughter Morgan Land. Lavenia and Dale have four great-grandchildren.
Lavenia supported her children, being the volunteer mom for Girls Scouts, church, PTA and more. She was a member of the Dunlora Woman’s Club and led the Lee District as President. She also volunteered with the Ware River Circle of The King’s Daughters in Gloucester. She served her community over many years, and especially enjoyed working with young children.
“Benia” was loved by her grandchildren who spent many happy times with her over the years visiting friends and relatives, going to theme parks, rescuing kittens or playing dress-up. She was always there to listen, love and cheer them on.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. at Lavenia’s childhood church, Beulah United Methodist Church, 5555 New Point Comfort Hwy., Susan, Va. 23163. Family visitation will follow.
