Laurel Anderton Robins, age 78, of Gloucester, was called home to rest in her Savior’s arms on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. She grew up in Mathews County, which she loved, and graduated from Mathews High School Class of 1964. She soon married the love of her life, Allen, at Oak Grove Christian Church, Bohannon (Mathews County), and became part of the Robins family. They later made their home in Gloucester, where she was employed by Safeway for 14 years. Laurel was preceded in death by her parents, Roland C. and Nellie Mae Outten Anderton, and her beloved daughter, Sharyn G. Robins. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Allen W. Robins Sr.; son, Allen W. “Robi” Robins Jr.; brother, Tommy (Cindy) Anderton; grandchildren, McKenzie Zember (Logan) and Sarah Robins (Austin Hunter); great-grandchildren, Brandon Emerson, Jeffrey Hunter, and a host of extended family. Laurel was a member of Providence Baptist Church, and her faith in God guided her life and blessed her family and friends. She cherished the Bible, trusting in its promises, and so her life was filled with love, joy, peace, and hope. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Providence Cemetery on East River Road, Cardinal, Virginia 23025; a reception to follow at Emmanual United Methodist Church, 5372 East River Road, Bohannon, Va. 23021.
