The plant of The Mathews Ice & Power Co., which, with its equipment valued at $15,000, was burned to the ground last Sunday morning at about 1:30 o’clock. The big Fairbanks Morse oil burning engine with which the plant was equipped was not seriously damaged. Until a more thorough examination is made of the compressor, it is not known just what it will cost to put the ice plant on its feet again, but it is estimated that eight to ten thousand will be necessary. The only insurance being carried at the time of the fire was a policy for $5,000 in the Northern Neck Mutual.
