Last year’s muralist to speak at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester

The Gloucester Arts Festival’s 2022 muralist Matt Lively of Richmond will give a gallery talk at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7 at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester.
A sculptor, painter, and muralist, Lively has designed installations, worked on films and illustrated books. He is a relative newcomer to the plein air style of painting that’s central to the annual arts festival. He will talk about how he started and provide advice on how others can begin, as well.
Lively will also be the judge for the 2023 Mathews Paint Out, to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6 at various locations in Mathews.
The event is free and open to the public, and participants are invited to a reception at 5 p.m. that day at the Bay School Community Arts Center on Main Street in downtown Mathews.
NOTE: This story was edited to reflect a change in the time and venue for the gallery talk, from 5:30 p.m. at Arts on Main to 6:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester.
