Larry Wayne Fowler Sr., 70, of Hayes, died peacefully in his sleep July 31, 2014.
He is now with his Lord and Savior. Larry served his country in the United States Air Force for three years, stationed in Germany and Denver, Colo. After his military service he went to work at Newport News Shipbuilding, working his way up to Quality Control, a position he enjoyed. After 48 years of service he retired Aug. 13, 2010.
Larry was originally from Hampton where he lived for 19 years, and for the last 35 years he had made his home in Gloucester. Larry was a loving husband, father and pappy. He was a positive and caring man who enriched the lives of others, and always had a beautiful smile on his face.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Clara Fowler, and his sister, Sandra Gail Fowler.
He will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pat; children, Mary Elizabeth Fowler-Jorgensen and husband Chris and their children, Emilee and Hailee; his son, Larry Wayne Fowler Jr. and wife Megan and their children, Carleigh, Jude and Lennon; a brother, Tony Fowler and wife Daisy; sister, Peggy Brown, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service conducted by the Rev. Bud Goude was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Gloucester Point Baptist Church. The family received friends prior to the service on Sunday from 1-2 o’clock at the church.
