Larry D. Spencer, 70, of Gloucester, Virginia, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, surrounded by his family at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Va. He was the son of the late Philip and Maude Spencer. Larry graduated from Gloucester High School and Thomas Nelson Community College, and was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Va., and attended Waters Edge Church in Yorktown, Va. He was known as a man that you would never have to ask to step up to the plate. Always willing and available to help at a moment’s notice. After 33 years, he retired from Philip Morris International as a machine tech. He is survived by his wife, Brigetta Z. Spencer; stepson, George Pittman (Stacy); grandchildren, Katie and Taylor Pittman; six sisters, Kate Berry (Billy), Mary Royster, Ethel Johnson (Douglas), Rose Jackson (John), Marian Shearin, and Joyce Berry (William), and two brothers, Robert Spencer (Sandra) and Ernest Spencer (Marsha). A funeral service conducted by Fr. Phillip Shearin will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 12 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road Hayes, Va. 23072.
