The Baystars 14U Lady Marlins soccer team took second place in the Kicking It For Cancer Tournament over the weekend in Smithfield.
The Marlins started the tournament against TCU United. The Marlins found themselves behind early as the first half concluded, 3-0, in TCU United’s favor. Marlins player Ava Santellanes led the comeback with a hat trick with two assists from Isabella Harrell and one from Emmy Baker. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.
The second game saw the Marlins faced the SSC Dynamite. The team carried its momentum into game to secure a 4-2 victory. Scoring for the Marlins were Santellanes, Harrell, Baker and Kacey Dudley.
The Marlins took on the same teams again on day two. The first game was against TCU United who took the win against the Marlins. In its final game, the team put up four goals to SSC Dynamite’s one. Santellanes and Baker scored the two Marlins goals.
