Lady Dukes shut out Menchville

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team beat Menchville, 14-0, last Thursday on the road.
Autumn Cookson, who has a 7-0 record on the mound, pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out seven batters.Gloucester put five runs on the board in the second inning. Alivia Bruce drove in the opening run of the game when she walked while bases were loaded. Kaia Hutton followed with a double to clear the bases. Cameron Palas drove in Hutton with a triple to centerfield.
In the third inning, the Lady Dukes added three more runs as Samantha Carlton hit a double to drive in Tessa Carteret and Cookson. Bruce then hit a double to bring Carlton home.
For the game, Carteret had three hits for three at-bats with two doubles and three RBIs. Hutton also contributed three hits, including a double and three RBIs. Carlton had two hits with a double and drove in three runs. Alexis Dishman also had two hits for two at-bats.
