Lady Dukes pick up two

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team defeated both Warwick and Menchville this past week at home.Last Wednesday, April 10, the Lady Dukes beat Warwick, 22-0. Autumn Cookson and Alivia Bruce pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts. Cameron Palas hit a grand slam over the left field fence, leading to Gloucester scoring 16 runs in the first inning. Alexis Dishman and Bruce each added an RBI in the inning.
The Lady Dukes added five more runs in the third inning, due to Bruce’s grand slam over the left field fence. In the fourth inning, Tessa Carteret had a single and later scored on a Samantha Carlton RBI.
Bruce and Palas each had five RBIs while Carlton and Carteret each had two hits in the win.
Menchville
Gloucester also defeated Menchville, 10-0, Tuesday evening at home. Cookson pitched a no-hitter, striking out seven batters. At the plate, she had two hits for two at-bats and had three RBIs.
