Gloucester varsity softball players moved to 12-0 on the season with a 10-run shutout of Heritage on Tuesday at GHS. Makayla Jenkins tallied four RBIs, including the 100th of her career, and combined with Taylor Distefano on a no-hitter.
The Dukes had 10 hits, with two each coming from Dez’re Maynora and Rhiannon Miller. They got to work early, putting four runs on the board in the first inning with the help of an RBI triple from Distefano.
Jenkins contributed RBIs on a sacrifice fly, a groundout and a two-run double. The left-hander pitched 3 1/3 innings of hitless ball with seven strikeouts. Distefano pitched the final 1 2/3 innings, completing the no-hitter while striking out three.
Jenkins joined a growing list of GHS players who have driven in 100 runs in their careers. The list includes Stephanie Coates, Gabby Pryor, Kayla Nance, Karli Robb, Ashley Moore and Jenkins’s teammate Hannah Joyce.
