Lady Dukes have tough week on the road

The Gloucester High School varsity girls’ basketball team faced a tough week on the road, losing to both Phoebus and Heritage in the new year.
The Lady Dukes fell to the Phoebus Phantoms, 61-17, last Tuesday, Jan. 2. Top scorer for Gloucester was Autumn Cookson with eight points, followed by Rylie Williams with four points, Avery Watkins with three and Kate Vannoy with two. Williams led the way in rebounds with six, followed by Aaliyah Smith-Boone with five, Vannoy with three, Rylee Amaral and Cookson with two each and Watkins with one.
In steals, Alesha Williams and Vannoy had two each and Amaral and Cookson had one apiece. For assists, Vannoy and Watkins had two each. Cookson also had two blocks.
Gloucester also lost to the Heritage Hurricanes, 43-34, last Thursday. Cookson and Rylie Williams led the Lady Dukes in scoring with 10 points each, followed by Vannoy with eight and Amaral, Dishman and Watkins with two apiece. Vannoy had the most rebounds for Gloucester with a total of 12, ...
