Lady Dukes beat Smithfield, fall to Manor in region games

The Gloucester High School girls’ varsity basketball team defeated Smithfield, 38-24, to face Manor in the Class 4 Region A semifinals, where the Lady Dukes ended their season with a loss to the Mustangs, 65-26.
Gloucester traveled to face Smithfield on Feb. 25 in the region quarterfinals. Autumn Cookson led the Lady Dukes in baskets, scoring 17 points. Aaliyah Smith-Boone scored 11 points, followed by Carter Flippin with seven, Hannah Horsley with two and Alesha Williams with one.
In rebounds, Horsley led her team with 10, followed by Smith-Boone with eight, Chloe Davis with five, Cookson and Hannah Mullis with three rebounds each, Flippin and Kate Vannoy with two apiece and Addison Hoover and Alyssa Wilson recording one rebound each.
Cookson, Flippin and Williams all had two assists each and Davis had one. In blocks, Flippin, Hoover, Horsley and Smith-Boone each recorded one apiece.
