The Gloucester High School varsity softball team picked up two wins this past week against Phoebus and Heritage high schools.
The Lady Dukes defeated the Phoebus Phantoms, 13-1, last Thursday at home. Alivia Bruce pitched a two-hitter, giving up only a single run in the first inning. Autumn Cookson and Cameron Palas each had three RBIs during the game.
Cookson, Samantha Carlton, Grace Sinko-Vanliew and Alexis Dishman each contributed two hits for Gloucester. Cookson had a triple in the second inning to drive in two of her three RBIs. Palas added a long drive over the right center field fence for a two-run home run. Palas’s second inning home run was her sixth of the year.
Heritage
The Lady Dukes defeated the Heritage Hurricanes, 20-3, Tuesday afternoon on the road. Gloucester collected 17 hits as Palas led the way with four hits, including a double and four RBIs.
