The Gloucester High School girls’ basketball team started its season with a home opener against Woodside on Tuesday night. Head varsity coach Amy O’Neil has most of her team from last year intact after only losing one senior with three additions. Sophomore Cali Vickers, junior Marlo Jenkins and senior Erin Bell are all new to the varsity team.
O’Neil said she is looking forward to a great season with a talented, well-rounded team. Senior captains Kenna Keyes and Lauren Hall will be playing for college next year. According to O’Neil, Keyes is great on a fast break and Hall is a good all-around player.
Senior captain Cici Coye is the team’s “hype man” and is a hard worker and senior Zebe Rhodes has great court vision. Senior Maria Lisi has a good outside shot and senior Kylie Fisk brings a lot of energy to the team and has a good corner shot.
