With wins over Tidewater District foes Middlesex and West Point, the Mathews High School varsity volleyball team improved to 4-0 in the district; 15-3 overall.
On Tuesday, Mathews hosted Middlesex in the Lady Devils’ second annual Dig Pink match for breast cancer awareness. Both teams honored survivors from the community and remembered those no longer with us.
The Devils had a number of fundraisers with all profits going to the Dig Pink Foundation starting with a pink-themed baked sale, breast cancer novelties, and a number of raffles which will continue throughout October.
Inspired by the large crowd, MHS came out strong, beating the visiting Chargers, 25-9, 25-13, and 25-10.
