The Mathews High School volleyball team picked up its first conference win last Thursday, beating the King and Queen Tigers on the road in straight sets, 25-9, 25-3 and 25-5.
Leading the team with kills was Mariah Robinson with six, followed by Kai McCann with five and Sophie Bandurco contributing four. Morgan Driskell had three, Whitney Eriksen, Brittany Mitchem, and Madison South had two each, Hailey Abernathy and Jacqueline Stewart added one apiece.
South led the team with eight service aces. Allison Foster followed with five, Kelly Adams had four and Eriksen had three. Hannah Rowe and Anna Hudgins had two aces each, and McCann, Kayla Carter and Robinson all had one. Rowe and South led the team with six digs, followed closely behind with Abernathy and Foster each having five. Robinson dug four balls, Adams and Driskell had three, Bandurco had two, and Hudgins, Stewart, Carter and Mitchem each added one.
