The Mathews High School varsity softball team picked up a win on the road last Thursday at Charles City, and dropped an 11-0 contest at home Tuesday to the visiting West Point Pointers.
Charles City
Mathews controlled the tempo from the opening pitch last Thursday to dominate the Panthers. Senior Christiana Wood was on the mound, striking out eight for the win, and also helping out the offense with a double and single.Addison Lowe, Addison Griffith and Emily Coons led the team in hitting with three singles each. Angel Shultz contributed a double and single, while Harmony Smith ended the game with two singles. Hannah Davis doubled and Laura Rowe added a single to round out the Lady Devils’ offense.
West Point
It was a different story on Tuesday night as the Devils were shut out by the Pointers, 11-0. Shultz and Wood provided the only hits for Mathews in the loss.
