The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team picked up a straight-set win Tuesday night, beating King and Queen on the road, 3-0.
Both teams battled hard in the opening set, which ended 25-23.
The second set was another battle, with Mathews eventually prevailing, 25-17.
Throughout the third set, the Devils tried out the Tigers play after play and kill after kill. The third set gave the Mathews Blue Devils the win with an ending score of 25-15.
The MHS girls play a varsity-only match tonight at Charles City County. The next home game for Mathews will be a varsity/JV matchup against West Point next Thursday, Oct. 5.
