The Mathews High School varsity softball team picked up two wins this week with victories over St. Margaret’s School and Lancaster.
On Wednesday, April 23, Mathews shut out the visiting St. Margaret’s Scotties by a score of 10-0 in a game which ended in six innings due to the mercy rule. Kelly Adams pitched the entire game for the Devils, surrendering two hits and one walk while striking out four. Keely Crittenden (2-for-3, two singles, two RBIs) led the Lady Devils at the plate, Madison South (2-for-4, single, double, two RBIs), Carole Bell (2-for-4, single, triple) and Allison Foster (1-for-2, single). Taylor South and Amanda Miller each had a single.
Mathews hosted the Lancaster Red Devils Thursday, winning 12-1 in five innings. Lexie Miles led the Devils at the plate going 3-for-3 with a single, two doubles, and four RBIs.
