Lady Devils pick up three wins

The Mathews High School varsity softball team added three wins and a single loss this week to improve its season record to 3-4. 
Last Wednesday, April 2, the Lady Devils lost to the visiting Poquoson Islanders by a score of 2-1. The lone MHS run came in the fifth inning when Taylor South led off the inning with a single, Savanna Wooten laid down a sacrifice bunt to move South to second, and Amanda Miller singled to left field allowing South to cross the plate.
Offensive standouts were Taylor South (2-for-3, two singles) and Miller (2-for-3, single, double, RBI). Keely Crittenden, Lexie Miles and Madison South each contributed a single. Kelly Adams pitched the entire game for the Devils, surrendering nine hits while striking out three and allowing no walks.
