Mathews High School senior Angel Shultz recorded seven strikeouts and only one walk last Thursday against Essex. In spite of her performance on the mound, Mathews fell to the visiting Trojans, 13-3. Lady Devil hitters only managed to collect five hits, with four coming in the last inning. Team members with singles were Addison Lowe, Addison Griffith, Lindsay Coons, Hannah Davis and Harmony Smith. The varsity Lady Devils will travel to King and Queen today, Thursday, April 17, for a 5 o’clock game, while the JV girls will host the Tigers. On Friday, Mathews will host a JV/varsity doubleheader against King William, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
