The King and Queen County Historical Society will hold its quarterly meeting on Sunday, Jan. 28.
The meeting will be held in the Courtroom of the Administration Building, King and Queen Court House. The program will begin at 3 p.m., with refreshments following in the Tavern Museum.
Wesley Pippenger of Tappahannock, author and publisher of historical records of local interest, will be the guest speaker. His subject will be “Genealogical Research when Records are Gone.” Pippenger has compiled records, abstracts, indexes and genealogies relating to local history. His areas of concentration have included Alexandria, District of Columbia, and more recently, Essex, King and Queen, and nearby counties.
This subject is of special interest to those researching places or ancestors who lived here prior to the 19th century fires which destroyed most of the county’s public records. The Historical Society has collected family documents and photographs, indexing and storing them as they become availa...
