The Boy Scouts of America Historic Triangle District held its third annual Klondike Derby on Feb. 11 at Beaverdam Park, Gloucester. The derby which is based on the Alaskan Gold Rush, saw Boy Scouts from 10 troops compete in skills demonstrations such as fire-building, knot-tying, first aid, search and rescue to earn “gold nuggets.” Gloucester BSA Troop 1651 took home first place for the second year in a row. Troop 1651 is an all-female unit, founded in 2019.
