For the fourth year, the Mathews Outdoor Club will hold its annual fall Coastal Virginia Kickball Tournament, on Oct. 5 this year.
MOC president Christine Johnson said, “this tournament has become very popular with local residents and is beginning to draw attention outside of Mathews County.”
COVA Kickball is open to teams of 10 or more players, ages 14 and over, and is played at the Mathews Little League fields at the Piankatank Ruritan Club in Hudgins.
Johnson said the tournament is scheduled around and in conjunction with other events held at the fields and club.In prior years, the COVA Kickball Tournament has fielded anywhere from five to eight teams, she said. “It has been incredible to see the enthusiasm rolling in.”
Reigning champs from Dominion Energy are expected, along with many local clubs and businesses. “For example, Peninsula Heating Air has confirmed sponsorship of a team for their third year,” Johnson said.
