Kees van Leliveld, 17, of Williamsburg, passed away on Jan. 27, 2014.
Kees was a junior at Warhill High School and a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church. He enjoyed deep sea fishing with his Pop and Uncle Jeff and big brother, Cody. He loved hunting with Blake, Uncle Jimmy and the boys at Harcum.
Twice a year, Kees enjoyed the NASCAR Richmond race with Teddy, Cody and his uncles. He loved to play baseball for Warhill. Kees was giving, caring, and shared his life through mission work with Jeremiah Project and in Zimbabwe. He was a wonderful big brother and enjoyed watching and helping his sister, Carrie, excel in her sports and other activities. Most of all Kees enjoyed spending time with family and friends. With his infectious smile and sense of humor he kept others laughing, and gave amazing hugs to all.
Kees was preceded in death by his grandfather, Hendrik J. van Leliveld. He is survived by his parents, Sandy and Teddy van Leliveld; brother, Cody; sister, Carrie; grandparents, Maria van Leliveld and Bill and Carolyn Mershon; girlfriend, Courtney Marshall; uncles, Jack (Stacy), Corey (Harriette), René, Jeffrey (Laura) van Leliveld and Jeff (Connie) Mershon; cousins, Kassie, Lindsey, Cole, and Brayden van Leliveld.
The family received friends at Williamsburg United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Jan. 29 and services were held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at the church. Interment took place at Williamsburg Memorial Park.
