Keep Virginia Beautiful, Inc., is accepting grant application proposals from groups all across the state who want to make a difference in their community. Applications for Green Grants are being accepted through April 30. Thirty grant awards will be announced, one each day in June.
You can submit a proposal for a program or project in any one of four categories: Litter Prevention, Cigarette Litter Prevention, Community Beautification, and Recycling. Past awards have gone to place cigarette butt receptacles outside municipal buildings and restaurants, purchase litter cleanup supplies, or to host a fix-it-fair to repair bicycles and household items instead of adding them to the landfill.
“Scouts, nonprofits, civic organizations and others know what’s needed in their communities,” said Keep Virginia Beautiful executive director Cristi Lawton. “And the Green Grants program provides funding to support sustainable environmental programs and projects.”
