Lancaster County author Gwen Keane will be the featured speaker at the Second Saturday Social series at 5 p.m. on Saturday, at the RAL Art Center, 19 N. Main Street, Kilmarnock.
The series is a joint effort of RAL and the Writers Guild of Virginia. It is open to readers, writers, artists, and anyone with an interest in the local creative arts community.
Light refreshments and drinks will be provided, and there will be live music, books to browse, and a short program focused on Virginia authors.

Keane is a supporter and board member of Northern Neck Partners for Pets, an organization focused on providing a no-kill shelter for local homeless animals. Her book “Cowboy Finds a Home” tells the story of her own shelter rescue dog.Keane’s body of work also includes “Local Color,” a humorous and thoughtful memoir about growing up in the Northern Neck in the 1950s.
