Karl Werne of Norfolk will perform on Sept. 9 at Arts on Main in the third in a series of four local and regional singer/songwriter concerts. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7 o’clock performance.
Werne is an award-winning songwriter and member of the national touring group BiG WiDE GRiN with Elaine Dempsey. His most recent CD, “This Little Notebook,” features such musicians as Tim Reynolds of the Dave Matthews Band and ODU Jazz Professor John Toomey. It received favorable reviews from Paul Shugrue on the WHRO program “Out of the Box.”
Werne has been performing in the Hampton Roads area since he was 16, including eight years with The Lewis McGehee Group and four years with his own Instant Karma. A highlight of that time was performing in the opening act for Bruce Hornsby’s Grammy-winning “The Way It Is” tour.
