The Mathews High School jayvee girls’ basketball team picked up a pair of wins at home this past week, defeating Nandua by a 31-15 margin and beating district rival Middlesex, 32-25.
Mathews had little difficulty controlling the tempo in last Thursday’s game against Nandua, holding the visiting Warriors scoreless in the first quarter and taking a 13-4 lead into the locker room.
Mathews post players thoroughly dominated the Lady Warriors, as the Devils’ top three scorers came from their forwards/centers: Hannah Rowe (17 points), Kai McCann (five points) and Jessi Nelson (three points). Also contributing were Jessie Zeller, Bailey Kujawski and Shanice Williams with two points apiece.
