The Mathews High School junior varsity volleyball team faced the Colonial Beach Drifters in a road game Tuesday in the Lady Devils’ regular season opener.
In a hard-fought, competitive contest, the MHS girls came up just short, losing by scores of 25-20 and 25-21.Starting off, Carter Hayes had four aces back-to-back. Marley Brock, Harmony Smith and Delaney Boatman all served up aces too. The game was not just filled with a ton of aces but also kills. Mya Schroeder had an amazing kill and drew the crowd in.
Mathews will have a rematch against the Drifters on Tuesday on the Devils’ home court, with the JV contest beginning at 5:30 p.m.
