JV girls still looking for first win

The Mathews High School JV volleyball team is still looking for its first win. This past week, the Lady Devils lost to King William at home and falling in a pair of road games against Westmoreland and West Point.
King William
In last Thursday’s home game against the visiting Cavaliers, Ellie Congrove started the game for MHS with an amazing serve. Kaitlyn Ball and Ari Stokes both served aces. The beginning of the first set was tight as the score was 4-4. Hannah Davis brought along another ace and Kylee Swanson had the first kill of the night for Mathews. Unfortunately, the first set ended with King William scoring, 25-17, taking home the win, defeating the Lady Devils in the second set.
Westmoreland
On Monday, the MHS girls traveled to Westmoreland to face the Eagles. Davis had the first serve of the match, winning the point. Mya Schroeder and Shelby Ray assisted Davis with getting a kill. Davis also had two aces. Davis and Swanson helped Congrove score a free ball kill. Delaney Boatma...
