The Blue Devils scored early and often as the Mathews High School JV soccer team picked up an impressive 11-1 victory on Monday against the visitors from Carver College and Career Academy.
The win improved the team’s season record to 5-1-1.
Stanley Ouma led the scoring for MHS with four goals. Franklin Cardenas and Chase Ambrose scored two goals apiece. The rest of the scoring was provided by Akilesh Jaquez, Brayden Larson and Henry Sowers. Ambrose, one of the two keepers for the JV Blue Devils, had one save in the first half.
“They played a good game,” assistant coach Kayla Stearns said. “They had great passing and communication on the field.”
The JV Devils soccer looks to notch another victory on Friday when the team hosts Rappahannock, starting at 5 p.m.
