An opening for Arts on Main’s Fourth Annual Juried Show will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at the gallery on Main Street in Gloucester. Over 200 applications were submitted for consideration by juror Carrie Spencer, curator of contemporary art and education at the Hermitage Museum and Gardens. Forty-five individual works were selected for the exhibition.Among the talented local artists to qualify for the exhibition were Kacey Carneal, Jackie Merritt, Janet Griffin, James Warwick Jones, Rose Nygaard, and Mary Montague Sikes. Spencer will announce prize winners at 7 p.m. during the show, with first place receiving $1,000 plus a future solo show at Arts on Main. The event is free and open to the public. Complimentary light refreshments will be provided. ‘Native Son,’ a colored pencil work by James Bouie, right, is one of the 45 works of art selected for Arts on Main’s Fourth Annual Juried Show, which opens on Saturday, March 20.
