Junius Howard Hill Sr., widower, was called to his eternal home on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at his residence in Gloucester, Va.
Born May 11, 1931 in Essex County, he was educated in the public school system through the 11th grade before joining the U.S. Army at 17. He served actively during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged in 1954.
He then married Gladys R. Lockley (deceased 2010) of Gloucester in 1955 and relocated to Bridgeport, Conn. After raising a family and a fulfilling career in professional commercial freight transport, he retired and moved back to Virginia in 1998 where he enjoyed traveling, bowling, and classic cars.
Eldest son, Junius H. Hill Jr. passed in 2001. He is survived by three sons, Jonathan of New Haven, Conn., Erik of Clover, S.C., Elliott of Gloucester, and two sisters, Garnetta Ingram of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Isabel Morris of Greenville, N.C.
Services and burial were held March 29, 2014 by Father Vincent Hodge of Grace Episcopal Church, Millers Tavern, Va.
