Juneteenth celebration next week at Holly Knoll

One of the most historic places in Virginia is providing the backdrop for 2024 Gloucester Juneteenth Celebration. The event will be held from 3-6 p.m. next Wednesday, June 19, at Holly Knoll, 6498 Allmondsville Road, Gloucester.
Holly Knoll was the home of Dr. Robert Russa Moton, the second president of Tuskegee Institute and successor to Dr. Booker T. Washington. The event is being held in collaboration with The Gloucester Juneteenth Celebration Committee, The Gloucester Institute, the Gloucester County NAACP, and the Mathews County NAACP.
Juneteenth holds a special significance in the African American community. It is not just the commemoration of the end of slavery for people of African descent in America; it is an affirmation of the commitment never to forget the past.
