Julia Mae Respress, 89, of Moon, Va., went to be with her Lord in Heaven on Nov. 14, 2011 at Walter Reed Convalescent Center, Gloucester, Va.
She was born May 22, 1922 in Mathews, to Joseph and Shelly Peters. Mrs. Respress spent her life devoted to her husband and family, and raising her five children was her utmost personal triumph. She was an active member of Salem United Methodist Church, Diggs, Va., and belonged to the William Davis Sunday School Class. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles in her spare time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burley Respress.
Mrs. Respress is survived by her five children, Russell Respress (Monette), Leland Respress (Dinah), Robert Roy Respress (Faye), Burley Lee Respress (Marilyn), and Mary Catherine McDaniel (Buddy). She loved being in the presence of her 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family received friends at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011.
And thanks to our friends and family on the Ware Unit at Walter Reed Convalescent Center for the loving care that was given to our mother.
