Judith P. (JayeP) Johnson, of Gloucester Point, Va., passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 53 years, Dr. Ralph W. Johnson, whom she met at Chowan College. After college, they married, built their forever home in the York River area of Gloucester Point, Va., and created a lifetime of memories.
JayeP went on to obtain her master’s degree in early childhood education and devoted her life to teaching. She took a break to raise her children and simultaneously cofounded J & J Millinery, Ltd., with a good friend and colleague. She later returned to teaching at Achilles Elementary School for nine years before following her husband to King George County. Once there, she continued to make a vast difference in the education of young children living in neighboring counties. After retirement, the couple returned to their forever home in Gloucester Point.
JayeP is survived by her three loving daughters and four cherished grandchildren, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Her kindness, dedication, and love for her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
