Joshua Shane Witcher, 29, of Gloucester, died May 27, 2011 at Riverside Regional Medical Center, Newport News, Va.

Shane was a devoted father, brother, son, nephew, and friend. Nothing was more important to him than family. He had a warrior spirit, and was always there to help his family with any problem.

His mother, Katherine Vansant Witcher, preceded him in death.

He is survived by children, Taylor Michelle Witcher, Sarah Katherine Blake; father, Richard Earl Witcher; sister, April Dawn August; brothers, Joseph Brandon Witcher, Richard E. Witcher Jr.

A Celebration of Life Service, conducted by the Rev. Ken Cramer, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2011, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.

In memory of Shane, the family requests contributions be made to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, 601 Children’s Way, Norfolk, Va. 23507.
