Joseph W. “Joe” Rowe Jr., age 69, of Middletown, Delaware, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
Born in Newport News, Va., on October 18, 1954, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Rowe Sr. and Mamie L. (Davis) Clements. After graduating high school, Joe worked as a pipefitter at Newport News Shipbuilding until 1990 and as a custom homebuilder until 2001. He then made his career as a superintendent at George & Lynch in Dover for 16 years until his retirement in 2017.
A true outdoorsman, Joe enjoyed going hunting and bass fishing. He loved sports, whether he was playing a game of baseball or cheering on the New York Yankees, Washington Redskins, or watching NASCAR. Above all, Joe cherished his time spent with his family and beloved pets, Peanut, Bailey, and Charlee.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline (Rowe) Kepley. He is survived by his children, Jackie Hudgins of Gloucester, Va., Bryan Rowe (Kait-lin) of Hampton, Va., and Westley Rowe (Nicole) of Felton; siblings, Debora Rowe of Middletown and Robert D. Rowe of Ohio; grandchildren, Alexandra, Dakota, Harper, Kellen, Dalton, Gentry, and Greer, and great-grandchild, Oliver.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Middletown Baptist Church, 419 Armstrong Corner Road, Middletown. Interment will be held privately.
