Join in the Winter Challenge to help families in need

The Mathews Department of Social Services is asking the public to join its Winter Challenge to help local families in need.
Each day during December, participants in the Winter Challenge are asked to add an item into a box. On Dec. 23, donate the contents to Mathews Social Services for distribution to a local family.
Here is the list of items: Dec. 1, box of cereal; Dec. 2, jar of peanut butter; Dec. 3, box of stuffing mix; 4, box of tea bags; 5, box of macaroni and cheese, 6, canned fruit, 7, canned tomatoes, 8, canned tuna, 9, bag of ground coffee, 10, jar of applesauce, 11, canned sweet potatoes; 12, cranberry sauce; 13, canned beans; 14, box of saltine crackers; 15, bag of rice; 16, container of oatmeal; 17, box of pasta; 18, jar of spaghetti sauce; 19, chicken noodle soup; 20, tomato soup; 21, canned corn; 22, canned mixed vegetables, and 23, canned green beans.
